India’s Russian Oil Imports Fall in December
India's crude oil imports from Russia dropped to 1.1 million bpd in December amid sanctions.
NEW DELHI-India’s crude oil imports from Russia fell to a three-year low of 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd) this December. Analysts at Kpler suggest the decline stems from private refiner Reliance Industries pausing purchases after the U.S. sanctioned major producers.
Despite the dip, the trade remains structurally sound as state-run refiners like Indian Oil continue sourcing from non-sanctioned entities. Industry experts anticipate a recovery in early 2026 as intermediaries establish new supply routes to maintain India's energy security.
