Manali : In an extraordinary display of high-altitude precision, teamwork, and sheer grit, the Indian Army’s Dare Devils team has scripted a historic world record. On July 1, 2026, ten elite riders belonging to the Corps of Signals traversed the entirety of the iconic 9.8-kilometer-long Atal Tunnel riding on just two motorcycles.
The successful feat was executed as a special tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces ahead of the upcoming Kargil Vijay Diwas. The milestone was achieved during the ongoing nationwide motorcycle expedition titled "Wheels of Valour: Sanchar Shakti," which rolled into Palchan on June 30.
Conquering High-Altitude Challenges in Under 10 MinutesSitting beneath the Rohtang Pass, the Atal Tunnel holds the global distinction of being the world's longest highway tunnel situated at an altitude exceeding 10,000 feet. Navigating the dense, enclosed stretch under demanding high-altitude conditions required impeccable operational discipline and flawless balance.

The Dare Devils closely coordinated with the local Manali district administration, Himachal Pradesh Police, and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to ensure the highway remained entirely safe for other road users.
Lieutenant General Vivek Dogra, Signal Officer-in-Chief, extended his deep gratitude to the support teams, hailing the feat as a powerful symbol of military professionalism and adventure. Beyond rewriting the record books, the expedition continues to travel across the nation, stopping at war memorials to spark a spirit of patriotism among young citizens.
