Yash Raj Films Alpha Debuts To Highly Polarized Reviews From Internet Audiences

Mumbai : The highly anticipated theatrical release of Yash Raj Films' Alpha, the first female-led installment in the acclaimed YRF Spy Universe, has triggered highly polarized reactions across digital platforms. Headlined by Bollywood powerhouse Alia Bhatt and rising star Sharvari, the espionage thriller has split moviegoers down the middle on its grand opening day.

Initial reviews heavily praise the film's stylish presentation, high-octane background score, and bone-crunching action sequences. Audiences on X (formerly Twitter) widely lauded the seamless on-screen camaraderie between Bhatt and Sharvari, noting that the duo injected a refreshing, fierce dynamic into the franchise.

A massive highlight for theater audiences was a surprise, high-voltage cameo by Hrithik Roshan as Agent Kabir, alongside an iconic Easter egg nod to Salman Khan’s Tiger, both of which reportedly sparked theater-wide euphoria.  However, the ambitious spy venture faced considerable backlash regarding its core narrative framework.

A significant segment of netizens voiced disappointment, labeling the first half sluggish and formulaic. Critical online feedback consistently pointed out that despite the raw, intense performances of the lead actresses and a menacing villainous turn by Bobby Deol, the film is held back by a highly predictable screenplay and uneven pacing.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha features a stellar supporting cast including industry veteran Anil Kapoor. While critics remain strictly divided over whether the script successfully matches the gritty tactical realism of contemporary Indian cinema, the film's robust advance bookings indicate a strong box office start.

Film industry experts are closely tracking the trending internet chatter, as audience word-of-mouth over the upcoming weekend will determine if Alpha's explosive action design can successfully overshadow its structural storytelling flaws.
