UPRTOU Launches January 2026 Admission Cycle; Aiming for One Lakh Students with New AI Courses

Prayagraj : Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) officially commenced its admission process for the January 2026 session this Wednesday. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Satyakam inaugurated the session, unveiling a highly simplified, digital-first approach designed to make higher education accessible to all.

Digital Integration and NEP 2020 Compliance Aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the university has mandated that all applicants create their Apar ID, ABC ID, and UGC Deb ID as per UGC guidelines. Prof. Satyakam emphasized that the university’s technical team has streamlined the online portal to ensure a glitch-free experience for learners across the state.

Innovative Courses and AI Skill Training In a significant move to modernize the curriculum, UPRTOU is introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based skill courses in the second year of all undergraduate programs. The university has opened admissions for 64 diverse programs, including:

24 Masters and 06 Undergraduate programs.

New additions: Diploma in Museology, MA in Home Science, and BCA programs starting this session.

07 Diploma and 23 Certificate courses.

Strategic Outreach and Enrollment Goals During the inaugural session, which connected coordinators from 12 regional centers—including Lucknow, Varanasi, Meerut, and Gorakhpur—the Vice-Chancellor set an ambitious target of reaching a student strength of one lakh. He directed regional heads to utilize social media extensively to disseminate information and provide on-ground support to applicants.

Registrar Colonel Vinay Kumar and Admission In-charge Prof. Jai Prakash Yadav highlighted that the university remains committed to ensuring no student is deprived of quality education due to geographical or technical barriers. With the integration of the "Book My Trip" and "Book My Shop" platforms for other administrative conveniences, the university is stepping firmly into a new era of digital revolution.
