Regional Workshop on "Business Reforms Action Plan -2024

Lucknow - Invest UP in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Promotion and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, organized an important one-day regional workshop on Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024 and Reducing Compliance Burden at Hotel Taj, Lucknow on Thursday. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, state government officials from Delhi, Bihar, and Jharkhand were present in the workshop to discuss and formulate strategies to improve the business environment and reduce the compliance burden for businesses and citizens.

In the technical session, a presentation was given by Mr. Bhuvnesh Pratap Singh, Deputy Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, on Business Reform Action Plan 2024 and reducing compliance burden. Thereafter, thematic presentations were given by DPIIT on the National Single Window System.

The presentation highlighted that in the last nine years, Bihar and Delhi have emerged as thriving business ecosystems, while Jharkhand falls in the “aspiring” category. According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Uttar Pradesh has achieved 100% implementation rate of reforms recommended by DPIIT. It is classified as an “Achiever State” under the Technology Upgradation Scheme (TUS), followed by Jharkhand at 95.17%, Bihar at 86.07% and Delhi at 63.92%.

The “Reducing Compliance Burden” presentation emphasized the need for a “whole-of-governance” approach, focusing on digitization, decriminalization, and simplification. Of the total 42,349 compliances reduced in the country, 2,943 were from the Central government and 39,406 from various states. 670 unique Acts were reviewed and streamlined as part of the compliance reduction initiative.

Sharing Best Practices in Business Reform Action Plan by Government of Uttar Pradesh Shri Abhishek Prakash, Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh and CEO, Invest UP, gave a detailed presentation on the ‘Good Practices’ followed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in Business Reform Action Plan and Reducing Compliance Burden (RCB).
