Mumbai. India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) symbolizes four decades of excellence in the industry and offers a taste of luxury, innovation and craftsmanship. Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra Shri C P Radhakrishnan inaugurated one of the world’s largest gems and jewellery B2B shows – India International Jewellery Show Premiere 2024, organised by India’s apex trade body, The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, at Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of Maharashtra graced the important occasion.

Shri Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, Shri Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman, GJEPC, Shri Nirav Bhansali, Convener-National Exhibition, GJEPC along with the Committee of Administration (COA) welcomed several esteemed guests and dignitaries like Shri Paul Rowley, Executive Vice Chairman.

Manushi Chhillar, Brand Ambassador, GJEPC added a tinge of glamour and dazzle to the inauguration.

A special attraction this year is The Select Club – the exclusive high-end couture jewellery section. The Select Club explores elegant designs and innovative craftsmanship by 101 exhibitors.

Hon’ble Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, Governor, Maharashtra said, “GJEPC’s IIJS is one of the most prestigious B2B gems and jewellery shows in the world and a day will come when it will be the largest show in the entire world. If GJEPC member gems and jewellery exporters can sell to Indian women, they can sell to anyone in the world. I urge GJEPC to continue showcasing and promoting Brand India across the globe; and through this endeavour, take India’s rich culture and heritage across the globe.

Mr Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Maharashtra said, “The diamond industry must think about the future generation and collaborate to involve them in the business and enhance employment generation. The diamond industry must embrace the youth and develop their skills to make them employable.''

GJEPC Chairman Shri Vipul Shah said, “This year, IIJS Premier is proudly hosting over 2,100 exhibitors and over 3,600 stalls, and we are expecting over 50,000 trade visitors from India and over 60 countries. There are 15 international delegations from over 13 countries including Cambodia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom and Uzbekistan.

The recent Union Budget 2024 has been transformational for our industry and the Government's policy imperatives will firmly establish India as the global rough diamond trading hub, create jobs and contribute to India's vision of becoming a developed India by 2047.

Shri Shah said, “Maharashtra is at the forefront when it comes to gems and jewellery exports, accounting for nearly 50% of India's total gems and jewellery exports. contributes 70%. The Maharashtra State Government has been incredibly supportive in our efforts in helping us set up a Jewellery Park in Navi Mumbai and the Bharat Ratnam – Mega Common Facility Centre (CFC) in SEEPZ.
