Powergrid Secures Major 300MWh Andhra Battery Project
Powergrid Corporation bags a strategic 150MW/300MWh battery energy storage system at Kalikiri in Andhra Pradesh.
LUCKNOW-State-owned Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd has secured a landmark 150MW/300MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Andhra Pradesh. Awarded under a Build-Own-Operate model, this facility at the Kalikiri substation will significantly bolster grid stability and renewable energy integration.
Part of a larger 2,000 MWh state initiative, this project utilizes Viability Gap Funding (VGF) to ensure cost-effective 'on-demand' power. As India targets 500GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030, Powergrid's expansion into advanced storage solutions marks a critical step toward a resilient national grid.
