LUCKNOW-India’s sugar production climbed 23.43% to reach 11.83 million tonnes in the first quarter of the 2025-26 season. According to the NFCSF, the surge is primarily driven by a robust recovery in Maharashtra’s output and favorable monsoon-led yields nationwide.
Data shows that 499 sugar mills crushed 134 million tonnes of cane by December 31, achieving an improved recovery rate of 8.83%. This strong momentum positions India comfortably to meet domestic demand while strengthening the case for potential export policy revisions.
