India Reaffirms Two-State Solution at UN for Lasting Middle East Peace

New York,:  India has once again voiced its firm support for a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the ongoing Middle East conflict, advocating a two-state solution during the United Nations Security Council's quarterly open debate on the situation in the region, including the Palestinian issue.

Speaking at the UN headquarters, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador P. Harish, expressed grave concern over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza and the surrounding territories. “Access to healthcare is collapsing, children’s education is halted, and the overall conditions are horrific,” he stated, calling for not just temporary ceasefires, but a long-term, structured resolution to the crisis.

Ambassador Harish reiterated that India shares a historic and deep-rooted relationship with the Palestinian people. “India was among the first non-Arab countries to recognize the State of Palestine, and we have always supported the legitimate rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people,” he said.

During his address, Harish emphasized India’s consistent and balanced stance, reaffirming its belief that a peaceful two-state solution – in line with the United Nations’ resolutions and established international laws – is the only path toward durable peace in the region. “India strongly advocates a negotiated solution where Israel and Palestine coexist peacefully within secure and recognized borders,” he said.

Highlighting India’s proactive role, Harish noted that New Delhi has extended support not just through bilateral channels, but also by contributing to international organizations such as the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). He mentioned India’s ongoing aid in the form of medical supplies, educational resources, skill training, and post-conflict rehabilitation.

India’s Permanent Mission to the UN also shared a video clip of Harish’s address on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), amplifying its call for peace and humanitarian responsibility.

In addition to advocating for a two-state solution, India urged all parties involved to immediately halt violence, adhere to international humanitarian law, and allow unimpeded humanitarian access to the people of Gaza. The Indian envoy also called for the immediate release of all hostages and a collective effort to protect civilians caught in the conflict.

India’s remarks come amid renewed tensions in the region and reflect its consistent diplomatic positioning that balances strategic interests with moral responsibility.

The intervention also sets the tone for India’s growing voice in global peacebuilding and human rights forums, as it continues to push for reform, dialogue, and equitable solutions in conflict zones.

As the crisis deepens, India’s message stands clear: peace in the Middle East is possible, but only through dialogue, compassion, and a commitment to justice via the two-state vision.
