Bengaluru : In a whirlwind four-hour visit on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to ignite a new chapter in Bengaluru's infrastructure landscape. The city, often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, will witness the inauguration of the long-awaited Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro, the launch of a new Vande Bharat Express, and the ceremonial groundbreaking for Metro Phase 3.

Arriving at HAL Airport at 10:30 am, the Prime Minister's itinerary is packed with high-impact events. His first stop is the KSR Bengaluru railway station, where he will flag off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Bengaluru to Belagavi. This new high-speed service is expected to significantly reduce travel time between these two key cities, offering a modern and comfortable travel experience for passengers. In a move highlighting the national scope of railway development, Modi will also virtually flag off two more Vande Bharat trains: one between Amritsar and Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katri, and another connecting Ajni (Nagpur) and Pune.

From the railway station, the Prime Minister will head to the RV Road (Ragigudda) metro station to inaugurate the Yellow Line. The 19.15 km stretch, built at a cost of over ₹5,000 crore, features 16 stations and is a crucial addition to the city's public transport network. This line is particularly significant as it connects key commercial and residential hubs, including Electronic City, and is expected to provide much-needed relief from the notoriously heavy traffic on Hosur Road and the Silk Board Junction. Modi is scheduled to take a ride on the new metro line, traveling from RV Road to the Electronic City station, symbolizing the line's official opening to the public.

Following the metro ride, the Prime Minister will proceed to the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bengaluru. In a ceremony at the institute's auditorium, he will officially lay the foundation stone for Bangalore Metro's ambitious Phase 3. This new phase, also known as the Orange Line, is a massive undertaking spanning 44.65 km with an estimated cost of over ₹15,000 crore. The expansion underscores the city's commitment to building a robust and comprehensive metro system to cater to its rapidly growing population and increasing urbanization.

This action-packed visit is not just about inaugurating new projects; it's a powerful statement on the government's focus on urban infrastructure and connectivity. The new metro line and the Vande Bharat Express are more than just transport projects; they are catalysts for economic growth, reducing commute times, and improving the quality of life for millions of Bengalureans. With these new developments, Bengaluru is poised to strengthen its position as a global city with world-class infrastructure. The Prime Minister’s swift, impactful visit will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy on the city's urban landscape, paving the way for a more connected and efficient future.
