Delhi Police Counter Terror Wing Apprehends Seven Operatives Linked To Shahzad Bhatti
The Delhi Police Special Cell dismantled two cross-border networks associated with gangster Shahzad Bhatti, arresting seven individuals across northern India.
New Delhi: In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police has successfully dismantled two distinct operational modules linked directly to Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Shahzad Bhatti. A coordinated multi-state crackdown spanning the National Capital Region, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh resulted in the arrest of seven key syndicate operatives.
According to counter-terror officials, the dismantled networks were functioning as highly structured, compartmentalized units. While the primary module was actively organizing target reconnaissance and executing localized terror-related assignments, the secondary auxiliary module focused on the cross-border smuggling and localized distribution of sophisticated, illegal firearms.During the tactical raids, police commandos recovered a lethal cache of weaponry, including five semi-automatic pistols, forty-one live cartridges,
a stolen motorcycle, and several petrol bombs. Forensic experts are currently evaluating the seized explosives to determine whether this network shares logistical links with recent acts of sabotage, including a recent petrol bomb strike on the RSS headquarters in Ranchi. Intelligence reports suggest that Bhatti has been operating under the direct patronage of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The syndicate allegedly weaponized social media platforms to radicalize and recruit impressionable local youth, coordinating operations through heavily encrypted messaging applications and hawala financial channels. The operatives were reportedly tasked with photographing sensitive infrastructure, including military camps, historical temples, and high-profile highways, before forwarding the files to their handlers.
"By neutralizing these dual networks, we have successfully preempted multiple planned violent disruptions across the Delhi-NCR sector," a senior investigator stated. The seven arrested suspects are undergoing rigorous interrogation as central intelligence agencies work alongside the Special Cell to fully trace the operational funding, identify local middlemen, and uncover remaining sleeping cells tied to the cross-border network.
