Baghpat Double Murder: Father And Son Gunned Down Inside Shop
A horrifying daylight double murder inside a shop in Baghpat leaves a father and his son dead over an old rivalry
Baghpat: A brutal, decade-long blood feud culminated in a shocking broad-daylight double murder in the busy Baraut town area of Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat district. A prominent local confectionery and tent merchant alongside his young son were executed at point-blank range inside their establishment, bringing an eleven-year-old operational rivalry to a violent, bloody conclusion.
The deceased have been identified as 60-year-old businessman Sohanlal Agrawal and his 28-year-old son, Vikas Kumar. The entire horrific execution was captured on nearby surveillance cameras, and the chilling CCTV footage has quickly gone viral across social platforms. The video captures two helmetless motorcycle-borne shooters casually arriving near a local police post, marching straight toward the victims' store on Delhi Road, and opening indiscriminate fire on an unsuspecting Sohanlal. Hearing the chaotic gunshots, Vikas rushed outside to save his father, physically tackling and pushing the prime shooter to the ground. However, an accomplice immediately shot Vikas at close range, killing him instantly.
According to police records, the gruesome attack was a direct act of premeditated retaliation. The bad blood dates back to a July 2015 shootout over unpaid store goods, during which the Agrawal family acted in self-defense, resulting in the death of Kapil Lohari—the brother of the prime accused history-sheeter, Varun Lohari.
In a dramatic sequence of events following Tuesday's shootout, the assailants’ getaway motorcycle failed to start. Enraged local traders and bystanders chased the fleeing suspects, catching Varun Lohari and subjecting him to a severe beating. An unidentified individual from the mob also shot Lohari, who later succumbed to chest injuries at a Meerut hospital. The twin killings sparked furious protests and a complete commercial market shutdown across Baraut. Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai confirmed that ten dedicated police teams have been deployed to track the remaining absconding suspects.
