Prayagraj : Following India's Diwali festival being inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a magnificent celebration was held at the iconic Dashashravmedh Ghat, underscoring the festival’s newly affirmed global status. Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani led the Deepotsav, which was further distinguished by the participation of artists from Tamil Nadu, celebrating the spirit of the Kashi Tamil Sangam initiative.
Mayor Kesarwani hailed the UNESCO recognition, stating, "Every Indian is proud that the festival of Diwali has secured a place in the representative list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity." He emphasized that Diwali is a celebration of India's cultural commitment to global public welfare, symbolizing the Ramrajya philosophy—a reign founded on the light of truth, justice, and righteousness for the entire human race.
The event beautifully highlighted the shared heritage between North and South India, which Kesarwani noted, "gives the message of One India and a Better India." The cultural exchange was central to the Deepotsav, as the visiting artists from Tamil Nadu performed a vibrant program centered on the theme of Lord Ram's coronation.
The historic Dashashravmedh Ghat was transformed into a spectacle of light, decorated with an impressive total of 2100 lamps to mark the Deepotsav festival. Media in-charge Rajesh Kesarwani confirmed the successful execution of the event, which saw the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of local citizens and BJP officials, including Awadhesh Chandra Gupta and Mukesh Lara, reinforcing the community spirit surrounding the revered festival. This celebration effectively blended local devotion with a potent message of national unity and global cultural pride.
