Tributes Paid to Legacies of Motilal Nehru and 'Frontier Gandhi' in Prayagraj

Prayagraj : The Congress Party’s Gangapar unit gathered at Phulpur IFFCO CORDET to honor two titans of the Indian freedom struggle: Pandit Motilal Nehru, on his death anniversary, and Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, on his birth anniversary.
Led by District President Ashfaq Ahmed, party members paid floral tributes to the statue of Motilal Nehru and the portrait of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, reflecting on their monumental contributions to the nation’s identity.
Remembering Pandit Motilal Nehru: The Legal Luminary
Speaking at the event, Ashfaq Ahmed highlighted Motilal Nehru’s dual legacy as a sophisticated legal mind and a fearless politician.
- National Leadership: Served as the Congress National President twice (1919 and 1928).
- Legal Excellence: Recognized as one of the top advocates of the Allahabad High Court.
Freedom Struggle: Instrumental in the early national movement against British rule, setting a foundation for future generations, including his son, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
"The country will always be indebted to his contribution. We must learn from his character and resilience," Ahmed stated.
The assembly also celebrated the 136th birth anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (born Feb 6, 1890). Popularly known as 'Frontier Gandhi,' his life was a testament to peaceful resistance.
Lal Kurti Dal: He founded the 'Khudai Khidmatgar' (Red Shirt Movement) to oppose colonial rule through non-violence.
Historic Honor: In 1987, he became the first non-Indian to be conferred with the Bharat Ratna.
