Kanpur: In a vibrant celebration aimed at reconnecting the youth with the rich legacy of Sindhi and Sanatan culture, senior BJP leader Anand Rajpal led the organization of the World Pakora Festival at Ratanlal Nagar, Kanpur. The event saw enthusiastic participation from community members, political leaders, and cultural advocates, creating a festive environment focused on heritage, food, and faith.

Anand Rajpal, the brain behind the initiative, emphasized the motive behind the festival — to reintroduce the younger generation to the roots of Sindhi tradition. “In today’s world, where western influences are strong, it is important for our youth to remember and embrace their own cultural and spiritual heritage,” said Rajpal. He was supported in the effort by former councilor Nidhi Rajpal and their daughter, who actively engaged in organizing the event.

The festival featured a diverse range of traditional Sindhi food, especially different varieties of pakoras, which drew large crowds. Alongside, stalls showcasing authentic Sindhi culinary delights and sweets allowed attendees to savor long-cherished flavors and traditional preparations.

A key highlight of the event was a heritage exhibition displaying rare and historic Sindhi artifacts. The exhibition was curated by real estate entrepreneurs Rajesh Tanwani and Hitesh Asharaf. Inspired by the book Unboarded Memories, Tanwani has been setting up such exhibitions across Sindhi cultural events. “This is the second time I’ve exhibited at a Sindhi community gathering, and the response is always heartwarming,” shared Tanwani.

The gathering was not just about cultural pride but also about honoring leadership and community bonding. The event was graced by several dignitaries including State Minister Ajit Singh Pal, MP Ramesh Awasthi, Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey, MLA Surendra Maithani, and various other lawmakers and social workers. Their presence reaffirmed the significance of cultural preservation in today’s sociopolitical fabric.

Prominent members of the Sindhi community such as Chandrabhan Mohanani, Satish Sochhlani, Manoj Advani, Sitaram Khatri, and Mukesh Ahuja were also present, underlining the strength of unity and cultural commitment among the community.

As the aroma of pakoras filled the air and the sound of traditional music played in the background, the festival turned into a joyful yet meaningful reflection of identity. Events like these serve as bridges between generations and cultures, fostering pride and awareness among youth for the traditions they inherit.

In a time of cultural dilution, the World Pakora Festival stands out as an example of how food, tradition, and values can come together to spark a powerful cultural revival.
