India Gifts 81 School Buses to Nepal's Educational Institutions
The Government of India has taken this initiative to strengthen relations with Nepal and deepen the partnership between the two countries under its 'Neighborhood First' policy. The Government of India has gifted school buses to various educational institutions in a total of 48 districts of Nepal.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu posted on the social media platform 'X' on October 22nd, "The Government of India donated 81 school buses to various educational institutions located in 48 districts across all seven provinces of Nepal, including the flood-affected Ilam, Jhapa, and Udayapur districts of Koshi Province, and remote districts such as Humla, Mustang, Sankhuwasabha, Darchula, Baitadi, and Achham."
This is in keeping with the long-term development partnership and friendship between India and Nepal. Over the past three decades, India has provided 381 school buses to Nepali institutions.
India has a long history of bilateral cooperation with Nepal during natural disasters. India has generously assisted the neighboring country during several major disasters, including the 2015 earthquake and the devastating floods of 2020. In addition, India has been continuously assisting Nepal in opening new schools and rebuilding existing schools in remote and inaccessible areas. On October 5th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the recent heavy rains in Nepal, which caused significant loss of life and property, and reaffirmed India's readiness to assist Nepal.
