Birla Corporation Supports Maternal Health with Mosquito Net Distribution in Rural Raebareli

Raibariely : In a commendable move to support maternal health and combat vector-borne diseases, Birla Corporation Limited, Unit Raebareli, has launched a targeted initiative to distribute mosquito nets among pregnant and lactating women in the rural areas of Amava Block, Raebareli district. The initiative is being carried out under the company’s Comprehensive Rural Development Program, in collaboration with Vishwas Sansthan, a local implementing partner.

This year, the corporation has set a goal to distribute mosquito nets to 300 pregnant and nursing women as a preventive measure against diseases such as malaria and dengue. The program aligns with the government’s mission to reduce maternal and infant morbidity by addressing health risks prevalent in rural settings.

As part of this effort, a mosquito net distribution event was recently held at Anganwadi Centres I and II in the village of Sarawa. The event was graced by Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Ms. Renu Shukla, representing the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department. Ms. Shukla personally handed out the nets to the beneficiaries and acknowledged the significant role played by Birla Corporation in supplementing government health initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Shukla lauded Birla Corporation for its consistent contributions to rural health, education, and livelihood development. “Birla’s proactive approach in supporting Anganwadi centres in Amava block is a great example of public-private collaboration. Their work is not only aiding the ICDS but also creating visible improvements in the well-being of rural families,” she said.

Representatives from Birla Corporation, including Vishwajeet Sahoo and Ranjita Singh, were present at the event, alongside Vikas Bajpai and Prashant from Vishwas Sansthan. The team reaffirmed their commitment to community health and announced plans for further outreach in nearby villages.

The distribution of mosquito nets is more than just a symbolic gesture. It reflects the company’s broader vision of creating sustainable development through focused interventions. In regions like Amava where access to healthcare and disease prevention resources is limited, such support plays a vital role in safeguarding maternal and child health.

Beyond mosquito nets, Birla Corporation continues to run multiple community-centered programs in the Raebareli region. These include health check-up camps, nutrition awareness drives, skill development workshops, and educational support initiatives. The corporation’s holistic approach ensures that the benefits of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities are deeply embedded in the lives of the rural population.

The mosquito net distribution drive is expected to continue across other villages in the block in the coming weeks. With active participation from ICDS and local NGOs, the program stands as a testament to how strategic partnerships can effectively bridge gaps in rural healthcare delivery.

As Birla Corporation remains steadfast in its commitment to community welfare, its initiatives in Amava block are setting a benchmark for socially responsible corporate behavior in India’s hinterlands.
