New Delhi. The India-IORA Cruise Tourism Conference concluded in New Delhi on Friday. Apart from India, officials and experts from member countries of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) participated in the two-day conference.

During this conference organized by the Ministry of External Affairs at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in Chanakyapuri, the national capital, ideas were shared among themselves to develop and strengthen the cruise tourism sector in IORA member countries. During this, discussions were held on increasing employment opportunities in the sector to strengthen women's participation.

Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on the social media platform 'X' on Friday that the India-IORA Cruise Tourism Conference was held in New Delhi on 13-14 June 2024. Officials and experts from member countries of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), including Bangladesh, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Seychelles and Tanzania, participated in it.

The conference provided a platform for stakeholders to share best practices and policy initiatives towards developing and strengthening the cruise tourism sector in IORA member countries. The discussions covered infrastructure development, regulatory issues, sustainable tourism, employment generation, the inclusion of women, and business opportunities among other issues.
