Medanta Lucknow Pioneers CAR-T Cell Therapy in U.P.
Medanta Hospital's Haematology Department achieves success with CAR-T therapy, bone marrow transplants.
Lucknow: Medanta Hospital’s Department of Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in Lucknow has become the first in Eastern and Central Uttar Pradesh to introduce CAR-T cell therapy for refractory blood cancers. Accredited by NABH, the department has completed 52 bone marrow transplants and cellular therapies within just 1.5 years. With a state-of-the-art 10-bed BMT unit, it handles both autologous and allogeneic transplants, reinforcing its role as a leader in advanced hematology care.
Under the leadership of Dr. Anshul Gupta, the department recently performed its first successful CAR-T cell therapy on a leukemia patient, marking a significant breakthrough. With 24 allogeneic and 26 autologous stem cell transplants already conducted, including for conditions like acute Lymphoid leukemia, multiple myeloma, and thalassemia, Medanta continues to set new standards. The hospital's commitment to innovative treatments like CAR-T therapy and haploidentical transplants offers new hope for patients across Eastern and Central U.P.
