Prayagraj :A significant step toward modernizing Indian agriculture and promoting sustainable farming practices was taken during the 90th management committee meeting of Kordet Phulpur. The meeting, attended by members of the management committee, focused on a comprehensive discussion about the future of Indian agriculture, the role of farmers, and Kordet's contribution to their development. The key highlight was the emphasis on moving away from the excessive use of chemical fertilizers toward a more balanced and eco-friendly approach.

Following the fruitful discussions, a special four-day training program was inaugurated for 55 farmers from the districts of Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri. The program was formally launched by Walmiki Tripathi, Chairman of the Kordet Management Committee, and other esteemed members, who lit the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the participating farmers, Chairman Tripathi emphasized the discipline and hard work of Indian farmers, hailing them as the " अन्नदाता" ( अन्न दाता, or food providers). He reiterated that IFFCO is a farmer-owned organization and enjoys the complete trust of the agricultural community. Tripathi raised concerns about the rampant and unscientific use of chemical fertilizers, which he said is leading to soil degradation and an increase in diseases among humans and animals. He urged the farmers to use fertilizers in a balanced and judicious manner. Advocating for integrated farming, he suggested that farmers should incorporate animal husbandry into their practices, citing the old saying: "Cow dung, soil, neem cake, they make farming flourish."

Continuing the session, Yatendra Kumar Tewatia, Secretary of Kordet and Uttar Pradesh IFFCO State Marketing Manager, educated the farmers on the benefits of IFFCO's smart fertilizers. He explained how products like Nano Urea Plus, Nano DAP, Nano Copper, and Nano Zinc improve soil health while boosting crop yield.

Mrs. Shipra, representing the JDA Prayagraj Division, also addressed the farmers, highlighting various government schemes of Uttar Pradesh. She cautioned them against mindlessly following fertilizer trends and advised them to be vigilant during the purchasing process. She stressed the importance of carrying Aadhaar and land records, and ensuring that the fingerprint verification process is only for the quantity of fertilizer they actually buy. Shipra also underlined the pivotal role of women in Indian agriculture, calling for their education and economic empowerment.

Bharat Tripathi, a senior member of the Kordet management committee, appealed to the farmers to not only apply the knowledge gained from the training themselves but also to share it with fellow farmers in their villages. Technical sessions were conducted by Dr. Harishchandra, in-charge of the Kordet Soil Testing Laboratory, who provided a detailed overview of the importance of soil testing and balanced fertilizer application. Akshay Pandey, an IFFCO Prayagraj official, offered insights into the proper use of IFFCO's farmer-friendly products.

The event saw the presence of a number of dignitaries, including management committee members R.P. Singh Baghel, Abhay Chaudhary, Padmashri Ramsharan Verma, Raj Dutt Pandey, along with Sanjay Kudeshia, head of IFFCO Phulpur Unit, and the principals of various Kordet centers.
