General Manager Northern Railway reviews work progress, focuses on station upgradation works

Lucknow. Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager, Northern Railway today reviewed the work progress of Northern Railway with the Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of Northern Railway. Shri Chaudhuri stressed on paying more attention to the progress of station upgradation works.

The General Manager said that safety is the first priority for the Railways, for this the maintenance of tracks, rolling stock, signaling and electric overhead wires is being done at a high level. He advised the departments to organize regular training and refresher courses for the employees so as to motivate them and minimize human error. He instructed all the divisions for proper and effective maintenance of the signaling system. He expressed his concern over rail fractures and directed that monitoring of signals, rail fractures and rail welds should be done on a large scale and no errors should be left there.

Shri Choudhuri said that wherever necessary, permission should be taken expeditiously from the Forest Department to cut trees so that they do not create any kind of obstruction in the tracks or OHE wires. He asked to pay special attention to electrical safety on the tracks as well as relay and panel room safety for uninterrupted movement of trains. He emphasized on reducing human failures in railway operations. He instructed the department heads and divisional railway managers to speed up the loading of goods by giving priority to punctuality and safety.

Emphasizing on freight business development, the General Manager took stock of the outreach of the freight business development units. He said that BDU should actively create an environment of trust, cooperation and confidence among the customers. He said that information about the initiatives and concessions made by the Railways should be made available to the customers. He also informed that the shipment of food grains and other commodities has increased with every passing month.
