Uttar Pradesh’s Initiative for Self-Reliant Cow Shelters
Uttar Pradesh promotes self-reliant cow shelters through sustainable initiatives, aiding women’s self-help groups.
Lucknow:Uttar Pradesh’s Livestock Development Minister, Mr. Dharmpal Singh, has instructed officials to devise a comprehensive plan to make the state’s cow shelters self-reliant. The initiative aims to reduce dependence on government funds by utilizing cow-derived products like organic fertilizers, dung pots, cow-casts, and bio-pesticides. The plan will involve local women’s self-help groups (SHGs), promoting employment while supporting the production of eco-friendly goods.
During a review meeting at Vidhan Bhavan, the minister emphasized the need for monthly inspections of cow shelters to ensure adequate health, medical care, and nutrition for the cattle. Mr. Singh also instructed that cow dung be exchanged with farmers for green fodder, and directed the cultivation of Napier grass on uncultivated lands. Strict action will be taken against any complaints of neglected cattle, ensuring no cow goes hungry.
