NEW DELHI-The #SupremeCourt will hear a plea challenging decisions linked to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar next week, igniting fresh political debate. The petition targets actions taken during the Special Intensive Revision (#SIR) of electoral rolls across several states in India.
Advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi filed the petition under Article 32, seeking prosecution of Gyanesh Kumar and other officials under Section 32 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. It also demands an independent probe into alleged voter name deletions.
The plea follows a report claiming Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi recorded objections at least 14 times, including over Form 6 changes. The allegations are unproven, so all eyes now turn to the #ElectionCommission and the hearing.
