Twin Tons and Divyanshu’s Fireworks Power Sonamati Club to Dominant Victory
Anand and Adarsh score centuries as Sonamati Club defeats Lukerganj Club by 145 runs in St. Peter’s Cup ODI
Prayagraj : In a high-octane display of power hitting, Sonamati Club secured a massive 145-run victory over Lukerganj Club in the St. Peter’s Cup Color Dress ODI Cricket Tournament. The match, held on Thursday, was defined by a relentless batting assault that left the opposition struggling to keep pace.
Opting to bat first on their home turf, Sonamati Club posted a daunting total of 401/7 in their allotted 50 overs. The foundation of this mammoth score was built on two stellar centuries and a blistering cameo:
Anand Kumar Yadav: The star of the day, Anand smashed 134 runs off just 100 deliveries, decorated with 14 boundaries and 6 towering sixes.
Adarsh Singh: Playing the perfect foil, Adarsh reached his milestone with 104 runs from 73 balls, including 9 fours and 6 sixes.
Divyanshu Yadav: Adding late-inning momentum, Divyanshu played an "explosive" knock of 77 runs off 49 balls, featuring 9 fours and 4 sixes.
Despite the carnage, Lukerganj’s Kartikeya Srivastava (2/30) and Rajkamal Verma (2/86) managed to pick up wickets, but they couldn't stem the flow of runs.
Chasing a target of 402 was always going to be a mountain too high for Lukerganj Club. While they showed resilience by batting out their 50 overs, they finished at 256/7, falling 145 runs short of the mark.
Kartikeya Srivastava showcased his all-round capabilities by top-scoring for his side with 58 runs. Other notable contributions came from Rishap Thakur (46) and Raghvendra Srivastava (37), but the required run rate remained well out of reach.
The bowling honors for Sonamati Club were led by Shivam Kesarwani, who dismantled the middle order with figures of 3/31. He was well-supported by Prerak Pal (2/39), while Manav Singh and Aryan Prajapati chipped in with a wicket each.
For his sensational opening act and match-defining century, Anand Kumar Yadav was rightfully adjudged the Man of the Match. With this win, Sonamati Club secures full points in the tournament standings.
