GSVM Medical College Celebrates International Nurses Day with Gratitude and Honor
GSVM Medical College honors nurses’ dedication and compassion through a heartfelt event on International Nurses Day 2025 in Kanpur.

Kanpur :In a heartfelt tribute to the backbone of healthcare, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, celebrated International Nurses Day with a grand and emotionally stirring program. Held in honor of nursing professionals, the event followed the global 2025 theme: “Our Nurses. Our Future.”, highlighting the invaluable role nurses play in building a healthier tomorrow.
The ceremony commenced with a solemn homage to Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. A two-minute silence was observed to reflect upon her legacy and ideals, setting a reverent tone for the rest of the event.
Dr. Renu Gupta, Head of the Department, addressed the gathering with deep admiration, stating, “Nurses are not just the foundation of healthcare systems — they are the ray of hope in every patient’s life. Their dedication, compassion, and extraordinary resilience deserve the highest respect. Even in times of crisis, they stand strong, fulfilling their duties with unmatched sincerity.”
Echoing this sentiment, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Anita Gautam praised the discipline and service orientation of the nursing staff, saying, “No hospital can be imagined without nurses. Their constant support forms the lifeline of patient care.”
Senior nurses Mrs. Meera Devi and Preetha also shared their reflections, expressing pride in their profession. “This day reminds us of the honor in serving humanity. Our ability to contribute to society through nursing is our greatest source of motivation,” they said.
The event concluded with a token of appreciation from Dr. Renu Gupta, who presented each member of the nursing staff with gifts and mementos, recognizing their selfless contributions and tireless service. These symbolic gestures were not just tokens, but reminders of how deeply nurses are valued by the medical fraternity.
The celebration was attended by several esteemed guests, including Dr. Anita Gautam (CMS), Dr. Neena Gupta, Dr. Shailee Agarwal, Rashmi Yadav, alongside all nursing staff and faculty members of the department.
