NDRF Conducts Mega Flood Mock Drill in Prayagraj with Emergency Teams
NDRF conducts joint flood rescue mock drill in Prayagraj to boost coordination among disaster response

Prayagraj : In a proactive move to enhance disaster preparedness, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a large-scale mock drill in Prayagraj under the supervision of the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority. The exercise was led by Deputy Inspector General Manoj Kumar Sharma and Inspector Shivpujan Singh, in collaboration with various district-level emergency agencies.
The drill aimed to simulate a realistic flood emergency scenario, focusing on swift coordination and effective resource deployment among key departments such as the district administration, police, water police, fire services, health department, revenue authorities, and civil defence units.
Simulated Flood Scenario
The mock scenario involved several villages in the district being surrounded by rising floodwaters. As part of the simulation, victims were depicted as stranded on rooftops and trees, while a few boats were shown capsized, leading to multiple simulated drowning incidents. Upon receiving alerts, the NDRF team immediately mobilized and reached the location.
The rescue operations included the use of motorboats, swimming and diving techniques, and dry rescue operations. Victims were safely evacuated, provided with first aid, and those in critical condition were referred to higher medical facilities.
Coordination and Protocols
Throughout the exercise, strict adherence to the Incident Response System (IRS) protocols was maintained. The drill emphasized real-time decision-making, multi-agency communication, and a synchronized approach toward life-saving operations.
Participating agencies included civil police, traffic police, fire brigade, National Cadet Corps (NCC), civil defence personnel, and the medical team. After the exercise, stakeholders reviewed the operations to identify gaps and improve future response mechanisms.
