KGMU Strengthened by UP Government Support

Lucknow:King George's Medical University (KGMU) hosted a continuous medical education program at the Radiotherapy Department’s Palliative Care Unit. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak graced the event as the chief guest, affirming the state government’s commitment to supporting KGMU with necessary resources, both financial and administrative. KGMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sonia Nityanand expressed gratitude for the recent land allocation for expansion, underscoring the government’s role in facilitating this progress.
During the event, Prof. Rajendra Kumar highlighted the journey of the palliative care project, initially started with support from Jeev Daya Foundation in 2016 and now operated by Cipla Foundation. Over 21,000 patients have benefited from comprehensive care, including medical, nutritional, and psychological support. The discussion also addressed the challenges of end-of-life care, where experts like Prof. Shaleen Kumar and Prof. Sanjay Dheeraj elaborated on the ethical and medical complexities involved in managing terminal illnesses.
