Lucknow: Bharti Airtel has taken a pioneering step in combating the issue of spam in India by launching the the first AI-enhanced spam detection system based on network technology in the country This innovative system processes 1 trillion records daily, identifying 100 million spam calls and 3 million spam SMS in real time. The service is automatically activated for all Airtel users, providing real-time alerts without requiring any downloads or requests.
Airtel’s CEO, Gopal Vittal, emphasized that spam is a growing threat to customers, and this AI-driven network will safeguard users from unwanted intrusions. The solution uses a dual-layer filter at both network and IT levels, analyzing billions of calls and messages within milliseconds. Additionally, it flags suspicious SMS with malicious links and detects fraud through irregular patterns like frequent IMEI changes. By leveraging AI, Airtel aims to enhance customer safety and provide a secure communication experience across its network.
