Lucknow: In a historic milestone for Indian Railways, the first batch of Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officers from the 2022 cadre formally graduated from the Indian Railways Institute of Transport Management (IRITM) in Lucknow. A total of 16 probationary traffic officers have successfully completed their 104-week rigorous training and are now set to take charge in various Zonal Railways across the country.

The convocation ceremony, held at IRITM’s state-of-the-art campus, was graced by the presence of Shri Amit Varadhan, Additional Member (Tourism & Catering), Railway Board, as the Chief Guest. The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Shri Varadhan, Shri Sanjay Tripathi (Additional Director General of IRITM), and other distinguished guests.

In a symbolic and emotional moment, the outgoing 2022 batch handed over the IRITM flag to the incoming 2023 batch — a gesture that represents the passing of responsibilities, values, and commitment to excellence.

Dean of IRITM, Shri Shishir Somvanshi, administered the professional oath to the new officers, reinforcing their duty towards integrity, leadership, and service to the nation through the Indian Railways.

During the ceremony, Shri Amit Varadhan addressed the officers and reminded them of the critical role they would play in managing one of the world’s largest railway networks. He emphasized the need for strong work ethics, innovative thinking, and people-centric management. "Your training has equipped you with tools, but your dedication and conduct will define your success," he said.

Shri Sanjay Tripathi highlighted the strides IRITM has made in upgrading its curriculum, digital infrastructure, and simulation-based training methods. He expressed his pride in the graduating officers and wished them a successful and impactful journey ahead.

Excellence awards were distributed to recognize outstanding contributions during training.

Ms. Kritika Mishra was awarded Best IRMS Officer Trainee.

Mr. Vishal Anand was recognized for Best Academic Performance.

Mr. Abhishek Kumar Singh received the Esprit de Corps award for team spirit and leadership.

In the Co-curricular Excellence category, Ms. Kritika Mishra and Mr. Mohan Dhan were jointly awarded.

For Sports Achievements, Ms. Riya Himmataramka and Mr. Akshay Kumar Rajgouda Patil received accolades.

Several dignitaries from both Lucknow railway divisions, senior railway officials, faculty members, and family members of the officers were also present to celebrate the occasion.

Course Director Shri Ambar Pratap Singh presented a detailed report on the training program, outlining the modules covered, including logistics management, operations strategy, public policy, commercial law, and crisis response.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by IRITM Dean Shri Shishir Somvanshi, acknowledging the collective effort of faculty, staff, and the Indian Railways system in nurturing the future leaders of railway management.

This convocation not only marks the successful end of a two-year academic journey but also heralds the beginning of a new era in Indian Railways, driven by a new generation of motivated, trained, and visionary officers.
