Dr. Nishant Nadda Appointed Joint Director of SOTTO

Bilaspur : In a major achievement for the medical fraternity of Himachal Pradesh, young and acclaimed nephrologist Dr. Nishant Nadda has been appointed as the Joint Director of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO). His appointment is being viewed as a significant step toward strengthening the organ donation and transplantation framework across the hill state.

The decision was finalized during a high-level steering committee meeting held at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, chaired by IGMC Principal Dr. Sita Thakur. Currently, Dr. Nadda is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nephrology at the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties (AIMSS) in Chamiana, Shimla. Alongside his new role as Joint Director, he has also been inducted as a member of the procurement committee.

Strengthening the Organ Transplant Framework
In his new capacity, Dr. Nadda will lead initiatives to streamline organ donation and transplant services in Himachal Pradesh. His primary responsibilities will include building robust institutional systems, raising public awareness about organ donation, and ensuring seamless, life-saving healthcare access for patients in critical need.

A Legacy of Distinction
Hailing from Bilaspur, Dr. Nadda belongs to a highly distinguished family. He is the grandson of the legendary war hero Captain Bhandari Ram, who was honored with the Victoria Cross—the highest wartime gallantry award. Dr. Nadda’s father, Suresh Nadda, is a retired State Bank of India manager, his mother, Aruna Nadda, is a homemaker, and his wife, Dr. Nidhi Chauhan Nadda, is also a dedicated medical professional.

An alumnus of the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, Dr. Nadda completed his super-specialization in Nephrology there. Over his illustrious career, he has served at RPGMC Tanda, IGMC Shimla, and civil hospitals in Ghumarwin and Chail, earning widespread respect for his patient-centric approach. News of his appointment has sparked widespread celebration across Bilaspur and the entire state.
