#DisneyPixar has announced that its upcoming animated adventure "Hoppers" will arrive in Indian theatres on March 6, 2026, bringing a unique blend of science fiction, emotion, and environmentalism to audiences across the country.

The film is written and directed by Daniel Chong, best known as the creator of the popular animated series We Bare Bears. “Hoppers” marks his feature directorial debut with Pixar, and expectations are high for a story that combines heartwarming storytelling with bold visual creativity.

According to a press release by the studio, the film follows the journey of Mabel, a 19-year-old college student who makes an extraordinary leap — literally and figuratively — by transferring her consciousness into a highly advanced robotic beaver. Her mission: to protect a vulnerable forest glade on the brink of destruction from corporate interests.

The movie stars Piper Curda (known for Disney Channel’s I Didn’t Do It) as the voice of Mabel, alongside Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm, who voice pivotal supporting characters.

Described as a "sci-fi eco-fable," Hoppers is set in a near-future world where artificial intelligence and nature collide in surprising and often humorous ways. Through its central character’s determination, the story explores environmental activism, identity, and what it means to fight for something greater than yourself.

Daniel Chong shared his excitement about the project in a recent interview:
"‘Hoppers’ is a love letter to nature, but also a story about the technology we create and the values we embed in it. I hope audiences feel entertained, but also inspired to think about their relationship with the world around them.”

The animation style reportedly features rich forest visuals and imaginative depictions of high-tech robotics, staying true to Pixar’s tradition of pushing the boundaries of animation. With emotional storytelling, humor, and visually striking design, Hoppers promises to appeal to both younger viewers and adults alike.

In India, Disney-Pixar films have enjoyed widespread popularity, and the early announcement is expected to build anticipation over the next several months. Local cinema chains and distributors are gearing up for a wide release, and the film is expected to be dubbed in multiple Indian languages, as with previous Pixar releases.

Film trade analysts suggest Hoppers could be one of Pixar’s most ambitious projects since Inside Out 2, blending genres in a way that challenges conventional animated storytelling.

With a compelling premise, an acclaimed voice cast, and a director making his much-anticipated feature debut, Hoppers is shaping up to be a major cinematic event — not just in the U.S., but also in key international markets like India. (PTI)
