Shaan’s Tribute to Kishore Kumar Captivates NMACC Audience

The NMACC Grand Theatre in Mumbai recently hosted an unforgettable evening as music aficionados gathered to experience “Forever Kishore Shaan Se,” the first comprehensive tribute by renowned singer Shaan to the beloved Kishore Kumar. The event was organized by Namrata Gupta Khan and Rabbani Mustafa Khan, who are the daughter-in-law and son of Shaan’s esteemed mentor, the late Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. The night was a jubilant celebration of nostalgia, artistry, and heartfelt emotion.

Shaan kicked off the evening with high-energy performances of his popular tracks, including 'Main Hoon Don' and 'Om Shanti Om.' He then seamlessly transitioned into a heartfelt collection of Kishore Kumar’s timeless classics. The setlist featured a remarkable array of nearly 70 songs, beginning with beloved hits like 'Tum Bin Jaun Kahan' and 'Mere Dil Mein Aaj Kya Hai,' and extending to romantic gems such as 'Dil Kya Kare' and lively duets like 'Haal Kaisa Hai Janaab Ka' alongside Nihira Joshi.

The concert was not solely about the music; Shaan's engaging personality shone through as he interacted with the audience. He humorously remarked how “every singer’s first step is inspired somewhere by Kishore da” and made light of contemporary social media quirks, comparing them to the classic "Inteha Ho Gayi Intezaar Ki." He also highlighted Kishore Kumar’s forward-thinking optimism, referencing the song 'Jo Soche, Jo Chaahe Woh Karke Dikhade' as an example of the legend's visionary outlook.

A particularly touching moment occurred when Shaan’s son, Maahi, joined him on stage for a rendition of 'O Mere Dil Ke Chain,' which received an enthusiastic response from the crowd. The emotional connection deepened as Shaan performed duets with Sumeet Kumar, Kishore Kumar’s son, bringing a personal touch to the evening. As the night culminated with 'Chalte Chalte,' the audience swayed collectively, many visibly moved by the enduring charm of Kishore Kumar’s legacy.

During the event, Shaan also paid tribute to the late Zubeen Garg, who had passed away earlier that day, with a poignant performance of 'Yeh Jeevan Hai.'

Reflecting on the memorable night, presenters Namrata Gupta Khan and Rabbani Mustafa Khan expressed their gratitude, saying, “We are overjoyed with how beautifully the show unfolded. To see a full house swaying, singing, and reliving Kishore da’s magic was profoundly moving.” Their heartfelt appreciation for Shaan's dedication and the audience's warm reception underscored the evening's success.
