Haunted 3D Echoes of the Past Dominates Opening Weekend Box Office
Mimoh Chakraborty's Haunted 3D Echoes of the Past scores ₹3.55 crore on Sunday, closing its opening weekend at an impressive ₹9.38 crore.
Mumbai: Emerging as a surprise commercial juggernaut, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt’s supernatural horror sequel Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past completed a stellar opening weekend at the domestic box office. Starring Mimoh Chakraborty and Chetna Pande, the low-budget horror production defied critical evaluations and completely dominated a fierce multi-starrer clash over its first consecutive three days in theaters.
According to statistical figures compiled by industry tracking portal Sacnilk, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past amassed an estimated ₹3.55 crore net across Indian multiplexes and single screens on Sunday, marking its highest single-day trajectory yet. The film initiated its theatrical journey on Friday with an unexpected opening of ₹2.50 crore net, followed by a healthy thirty percent escalation on Saturday to log ₹3.33 crore net. Driven by solid evening and night occupancy rates touching nearly twenty-one percent in mass circuits,
the film's cumulative three-day domestic net total stands at an impressive ₹9.38 crore, while its global gross revenue successfully bypassed the ₹15 crore milestone. The horror vehicle’s commercial dominance has stunned industry analysts, particularly because it outpaced prominent star-studded projects launched on the same day
Imtiaz Ali’s romance drama Main Vaapas Aaunga, actress Kangana Ranaut’s survival thriller Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, and Manoj Bajpayee’s political drama Governor all struggled to cross the ₹5.50 crore mark individually over the weekend. Trade expert Taran Adarsh highlighted the performance as a massive industry shocker, noting that the movie succeeded purely through traditional single-screen footfalls without utilizing discounted or Buy-One-Get-One (BOGO) ticket strategies.
Produced on a modest budget of approximately ₹15 crore, the sequel is well on its way to achieving a coveted sleeper hit status if it sustains stable theater holdovers during the upcoming weekdays.
