Sports : Shivpur Club won the inaugural match with Mukarram's bowling

Prayagraj : Shivpur Cricket Club Varanasi won the inaugural match of Syed Asad Qasim Memorial Under-16 State Level Cricket Competition by defeating DSA Club Prayagraj by ten wickets. Left arm spinner Mukarram Raza's accurate bowling (5-4-09-7) played an important role in this victory.

In the competition that started on Sunday at Daulat Hussain Inter College ground, the DSA Club team, which won the toss and came to play first, was reduced to just 40 runs in 13.4 overs. No batsman reached double figures. Maximum 25 runs got as extra. Mukarram Raza of Shivpur Club took seven wickets and Rohit Patel took two wickets after seeing five runs. 

In reply, Shivpur Club scored 44 runs in 7.5 overs without losing any wicket. Mohammad Ahmed remained unbeaten on 21 and Rudransh Singh remained unbeaten on 15 runs. In the match, Shishir Mehrotra and Mohammad Nabi umpired and Khurshid Ahmed Ashish Bhartiya did the scoring. Commentary was done by Anwar Siddiqui. After the match, senior Railways cricketer Safdar Ali gave the Man of the Match award to Mukarram Raza.

Inauguration of the pre-competition

Chief guest Himanshu Kumar Kushwaha (CMD, AK Infradream Limited) and special guest Mohammad Ashraf (Retired Registrar, Industrial Tribunal, UP) introduced themselves to the players. Organizing Secretary Shamsher Ahmed Chandu, Organizing Committee Chairman Shahid Askari and Co-Secretary Faiyaz Ahmed Rain welcomed the guests by giving them bouquets. The program was conducted by coordinator Mohammad Rizwan.

On this occasion, former Ranji cricketers, Mohammad Tarif, Farasat Ullah, Masood Khan, Vinay Dubey, Shibu Bhattacharya, Liaqat Ali, Syed Mohammad Shahab, Omprakash Srivastava, Santosh Yadav, Gauhar Kazmi, Ramesh Pal, Parvez Alam, Devesh Mishra, Shamsher Ali Khan, MSR Naqvi, Mohammad Anwar, Saifi Ahmed, Khalid etc. were present. On Monday, Shivpuri Varanasi will face Bhanu Pratap Singh Club Prayagraj.
