400 La Martiniere Students Become Life-Savers in Major KGMU-Freedom Trust CPR Workshop

Lucknow : A significant public health initiative concluded today as the Freedom From Poverty Trust successfully wrapped up a two-day CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) Training Workshop in collaboration with King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Uttar Pradesh. Held on December 9th and 10th at the Ibrahim Auditorium, La Martiniere Girls’ College, the program equipped approximately 400 young students with vital life-saving skills.

The workshop’s primary goal was to empower students as confident first responders capable of acting decisively during medical emergencies, as stated by Mr. Hemant Kumar Dixit, Vice President of Freedom From Poverty Trust.

The high-impact training was guided by a distinguished panel, including Prof. K. K. Singh, Executive Officer KGMU CRS – KGMU Goonj 89.6 MHz, and directed by Prof. Samir Misra, Incharge, Center for Advanced Skills Development, KGMU.

The core of the workshop involved intensive, hands-on Basic Life Support (BLS) modules. A highlight was the practical session where every student received one-on-one training on CPR mannequins. Under the close supervision of instructors, students practiced chest compressions, airway opening techniques, rescue breaths, and learned the crucial application of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

The dedicated training team comprised doctors (Dr. Ahmar Khan, Dr. Arjun), faculty from Paramedical Sciences, Nursing Officer Mrs. Shika Gupta, and personnel from KGMU Goonj 89.6 MHz.

This initiative is part of the Freedom From Poverty Trust’s broader mission, which includes sponsoring the entire five-year MBBS fee for a financially disadvantaged student at KGMU annually and providing surgical support, like cataract surgeries in association with AIIMS Raebareli. The organizers emphasized that CPR training is essential for building a prepared community, making a tangible difference between life and death.
