SRN Hospital Prayagraj Marks World Epilepsy Day with Awareness Drive
SRN Hospital, Prayagraj, held an awareness program for World Epilepsy Day, distributing free medicine and debunking myths.
The central theme of the awareness drive, as articulated by Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Head of the Neurosurgery Department, was "Empowering Every Patient and Family."
"Epilepsy is a scientifically understandable and completely controllable medical condition," said Dr. Gupta. "Social stigma and prevalent misconceptions often complicate the disease management. With the right knowledge, regular medication, and proper first aid, epilepsy patients can lead a normal life." He stressed that the primary objective is to empower patients so that no form of social stigma impedes their treatment journey. He added that the Neurology and Neurosurgery Departments will continue to hold such programs to benefit more people.
Attendees were provided with informative leaflets detailing immediate precautions to take at home, the critical importance of regular medication adherence, and correct steps to follow during an emergency. To ensure uninterrupted treatment, free medicine samples were also distributed to the patients.
Dr. K.K. Sonkar, Head of the Neurology Department, highlighted the significant role of timely treatment and social support in improving the quality of life for patients with epilepsy.
The program was attended by Dr. S.D. Pandey, Dr. Saurabh Anand Dubey, Prof. N.N. Gopal, and resident doctors from both departments. Participants praised the initiative, recognizing the effectiveness of such awareness programs in bringing about positive social change.
