Chief Secretary Guides 'Cleanliness is Service' 2024 Campaign
The "Swabhaav Swachhata-Sanskar Swachhata" campaign spotlights 155 hours of continuous urban cleanliness efforts.
Lucknow: Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Kumar Singh held a video conference with municipal commissioners to ensure a successful Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign, set for September 17 to October 2. This year’s theme, "Swabhaav Swachhata-Sanskar Swachhata," emphasizes local cleanliness and enforces strict regulations against waste in drains.
The Chief Secretary stressed localized waste management, including composting and treating plastics and metals. He mandated that households avoid discharging toilet water into drains or rivers and urged immediate compliance. Municipal corporations must appoint septic tank cleaners and upgrade treatment facilities.
The campaign includes "Swachhata Ki Bhagidari" for leader and citizen-led cleanups, "Sampoorna Swachhata" for major clean-up drives, and "Safai Mitra Suraksha Camp" providing health checkups and insurance for sanitation workers. A 155-hour drive will mark Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birthday, address black spots through community efforts, and support sanitation workers with recognition and aid.
The meeting included Secretary of Urban Development Ajay Kumar Shukla, Additional Director of Local Bodies Ritu Suhas, and Lucknow Municipal Commissioner Indrajit Singh.
