Akshay Kumar Horror Comedy Bhooth Bangla Locks Netflix OTT Release Date
Director Priyadarshan’s hit horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla starring Akshay Kumar is officially set to premiere on Netflix this Friday.
Mumbai: Following a highly successful theatrical run that kept the box office ringing, the official OTT digital premiere date for Akshay Kumar's blockbuster horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has been locked. Global streaming giant Netflix has officially secured the digital rights, announcing that the film will become available to subscribers worldwide starting Friday, June 12, 2026.
Directed by legendary filmmaker Priyadarshan, the movie originally hit theaters on April 17, 2026, and rapidly emerged as a massive commercial venture. Grossing nearly Rs 270 crores globally, it successfully solidified its position as one of the highest-earning Hindi films of the year. The project has generated massive hype as it marks the long-awaited reunion between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after a sixteen-year hiatus, rekindling the classic comedic chemistry that defined past cult hits like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hera Pheri, and Garam Masala.
The narrative centers on Arjun Acharya, played by Akshay Kumar, a financially troubled man living in London who returns to India after inheriting a sprawling ancestral palace in the village of Mangalpur. Intent on restoring the property to host his sister's upcoming wedding and clear his mounting debts, Arjun ignores local warnings about a cursed, demonic spirit named Vadhusur that abducts newly-wed brides. His arrival inadvertently triggers a chaotic clash of supernatural scares and laugh-out-loud slapstick comedy.
Produced jointly by Cape of Good Films and Ektaa R. Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, Bhooth Bangla boasts a stellar ensemble cast. Alongside Akshay, the film reunites him with Tabu after twenty-five years, and features stellar comic performances from industry veterans Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani, alongside Wamiqa Gabbi and Mithila Palkar. Audiences can now experience this perfect blend of spooky folklore and nostalgia from the comfort of their homes.
