Prayagraj : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on August 25 and 26 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹5,400 crore. The two-day visit will focus on boosting infrastructure, connectivity, green energy, and administrative efficiency in the state, reinforcing the government’s commitment to rapid development.

On August 25, the Prime Minister will dedicate several projects to the nation at the Khodaldham Ground in Ahmedabad. These initiatives are designed to enhance the region's infrastructure, particularly in the railway sector. He will dedicate more than ₹1,400 crore worth of railway projects, including the doubling of the 65-kilometer Mahesana-Palanpur rail line, the gauge conversion of the 37-kilometer Kalol-Kadi-Katasan Road rail line, and the electrification of the 40-kilometer Becharaji-Ranuj rail line. These upgrades will ensure smoother and safer connectivity for daily commuters, tourists, and businesses. Additionally, he will flag off a new passenger train, improving access to religious sites and stimulating economic activity.

Beyond railways, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the widening of the Viramgam-Khudadd-Rampura road and lay the foundation stone for a six-lane vehicle underpass and a railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad-Virangam route. These initiatives are expected to collectively boost industrial development and improve transportation efficiency in the region.

The visit also includes major projects in the power and urban development sectors. The Prime Minister will inaugurate electricity distribution projects in Ahmedabad, Mahesana, and Gandhinagar under the Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL), aimed at modernizing the network and reducing power loss. Furthermore, he will inaugurate a slum development project in Ahmedabad under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and lay the foundation stone for several road widening projects around the Sardar Patel Ring Road to ease traffic congestion.

A highlight of the visit will be on August 26 at the Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad. The Prime Minister will inaugurate two landmark projects that underscore India's rise as a global hub for green mobility and a testament to the "Make in India" and "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives.

First, he will inaugurate and flag off Suzuki's first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the "e Vitara." Manufactured in India, these BEVs will be exported to more than 100 countries, including advanced markets like Europe and Japan. This milestone positions India as a global manufacturing hub for Suzuki’s electric vehicles.

Second, he will launch the local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-ion Battery Plant in Gujarat. A joint venture of Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki, this plant will foster domestic manufacturing and innovation in clean energy. This development will ensure that over 80% of battery components can be manufactured in India, a significant step toward self-reliance in the green energy sector.
