Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Missions Gear Up for 'Special Campaign 5.0'

This year, the Government of India has announced 'Special Campaign 5.0' for cleanliness and clearing pending cases in government offices, which will run from October 2nd, 2025, to October 31st, 2025. This special campaign is being conducted in two phases. The initial phase will be conducted from September 15th to 30th, 2025; followed by the implementation phase from October 2nd to 31st, 2025.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in an official statement on September 19, "The Ministry of External Affairs has notified all its offices, including missions/posts abroad and regional passport offices, to set targets for review of records, pending complaints, references from MPs/state governments and parliamentary assurances, cleanliness, office management, and beautification of office spaces. In addition to these activities, the Ministry will focus on e-waste identification and disposal and conduct awareness activities on cleanliness in all its missions/posts abroad."
Indian missions abroad have also begun preparations for this. Staff at the Indian High Commission in Colombo contributed to the cleanliness drive by taking the "Swachhata Hi Seva" pledge at the Chancery premises on Thursday. The High Commission posted on the social media platform "X": "Launching the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign, Indian High Commissioner in Colombo Santosh Jha and all staff at the Indian High Commission took the Swachhata Pledge, committing themselves to cleanliness and devoting time to keeping their surroundings clean."
