Veterans Men's Futsal Tournament Unites Top Officials and Players in Kanpur

Kanpur : A unique blend of sport and camaraderie was witnessed at the Shastri Nagar Futsal Stadium as the Kanpur District Football Association organized the first-ever Veterans Men’s Futsal Tournament, bringing together senior and national-level players in an electrifying atmosphere.

The tournament was not just about football—it was a celebration of experience, sportsmanship, and community engagement. The event saw active participation from senior officials and seasoned athletes, including Kanpur Municipal Commissioner Sudhir Kumar, Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi, Unnao Sports Officer Mukesh Sabharwal, and prominent players like Amitabh Gupta, Sardar Ahmed Khan, Shantu Bhattacharya, and Mohd Asif.

Kanpur Lions clinched the championship title with a stellar performance throughout the tournament. Their well-coordinated teamwork and experience on the turf made them a formidable force in the competition.

Renowned international tennis player Sanjeev Pathak graced the event as chief guest and awarded the best-performing players. In a moment of pride for the local administration, Sudhir Kumar, the Municipal Commissioner of Kanpur, was honored as both the Best Scorer and Hat-trick Hero of the tournament. His dynamic on-field energy surprised many and inspired all.

Best Goalkeeper: National player Sardar Ahmed Khan

Best Forward: Shantu Bhattacharya

Best Player of the Tournament: Amitabh Gupta

The awards were not only symbolic of individual excellence but also highlighted the strong sporting culture among senior citizens and public officials in the region.

At the closing ceremony, Ajit Singh, Secretary of the District Football Association, presented a memento to the chief guest and extended heartfelt thanks to all participants, dignitaries, and spectators for making the event a grand success.

The tournament also saw the presence of other key figures such as Association President Manoj Chaturvedi, Mohd Sharif, Ashwini Shukla, Raj Kumar, and Sharad Jaiswal, who played a pivotal role in organizing and facilitating the event.

The event set a new benchmark for veterans’ sporting activities in Uttar Pradesh. It emphasized that passion for sports knows no age limit and that community sports events can serve as powerful tools for social engagement, health awareness, and local unity.
