GM Northern Railway review meeting focus on providing passenger amenities at stations
New Delhi- General Manager of Northern Railway, Shri Shobhan Chaudhary, today reviewed the work progress of Northern Railway at Baroda House with the Divisional Heads of Northern Railway. In the review meeting, emphasis was laid on providing passenger amenities at stations which include extension of platforms, washable aprons, raising the level of platforms, provision of second entry gate, foot-over-bridge, escalator, lift and facility for Divya Gajans, improvement of station buildings including main gate of stations etc. He also reviewed the works related to increasing mobility and other developmental infrastructure and freight loading.

The General Manager also reviewed the works done at the zone level to improve the standards of maintenance of tracks, welds and joints and removal of scrap lying near the track. He directed the divisions to expedite the works related to increasing mobility and to launch a campaign to check the progress. He stressed upon enhancing safety during the ongoing monsoon season and directed to make every possible effort to eliminate bottlenecks during rail operations.

Shri Choudhary also said that concerned staff should be counselled and trained whenever required. He said that monitoring of rail fractures and rail welds should be done on a large scale and no error should be left unattended. On improvement of infrastructure, the General Manager said that level crossings should be given more attention and they should be redesigned and road surface should also be improved. Apart from this, the General Manager said that people should be made aware in this regard that they should not cross the lines when the level crossing gate is closed. Northern Railway is committed to provide safe, smooth and better services to its users.
