Gorkhas have not got justice till date
New Delhi. Gorkha Bharatiya (11) Janjati Mahasangh organized a protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, in which Gorkhas from Assam, Himachal, Dehradun, Lucknow, Delhi NCR gathered and asked the Government of India to fulfill their demands through manipulation. Gorkhas have sent BJP to Parliament by winning in 2009, 2014, 2019 and this time also in 2024, but each time they got nothing except assurance.
Gorkhas have not got justice till date. BJP will also include them in the election manifesto and will provide permanent solution to Gorkhas and even Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had said that the dream of Gorkhas is my dream when he spoke at a rally in Silugari, Darjeeling district in 2019. That dream really remained a dream. It is very surprising that if the Prime Minister of a country is lying then what will the common public and the leaders do, this is a matter to think about. Today the Gorkhas living in India have been protecting Mother India since independence.
Those who have embraced the country and never step back from risking their lives for the country. The demand of the Gorkha tribe is very old. When the British were in India, they had given the Gorkhas the status of Hill Tribe in Darjeeling district till 1954. When Darjeeling district was placed in West Bengal, since then the Hill Tribe of Darjeeling district was removed. And whatever the Gorkhas got was done by the Congress when Shri Subhash Dhisingh started a movement in 1986 and it took a massive form. In this movement, 2000 Gorkhas were martyred. In 1988, Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council was formed and in 2007, Shri Bimal Gurung started a peaceful movement for Gorkhaland and then Gorkhaland Territorial Administration was given.
All this is the contribution of the Congress but it did not give anything to the BJP even after making it win the elections. Now the Gorkhas have woken up and have been forced to come out in agitation again. If the government does not do anything by 2024, we will come on the streets. Now the 11 Janjati Mahasangh has decided. We want justice. There is too much dictatorship in the country. We feel that India got independence but Gorkhas did not. Even today, whatever the British built in Darjeeling, be it roads, school, college, hospital, all was given by the British, not even one such thing was built after independence. Why is something different happening with us? Government, give us our rights, we will not remain silent now.
