Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police, Director General of Police (DGP) has issued security guidelines to ensure peace and order during the upcoming festivals of Barawafat and Vishwakarma Jayanti. The directives were sent to all Zonal ADGs, Police Commissioners, Regional IGPs, DIGs, and District SPs/SSPs, Focusing on several key areas:

1. In regions with past disputes, senior officers from both the police and revenue departments must assess the situation and take proactive measures to resolve conflicts and reduce tensions.

2. A thorough review of festival records at each police station, including entries in Register No. 8, is mandatory. Authorities are instructed not to permit any new routes or traditions for processions. Lists of anti-social elements should be updated, and necessary preventive measures should be taken.

3. Organizers of processions and events must be identified, and meetings should be conducted with them, involving community and religious leaders to ensure cooperation in maintaining peace.

4. Morning patrolling by designated police teams is required, with regular checks and videography of processions. CCTV cameras must be activated, and drones deployed where necessary for additional surveillance.

5. Police personnel must be strategically positioned in front, behind, and alongside processions, with gazetted officers overseeing security at key points.

6. All incidents, no matter how small, should be taken seriously, with police officers immediately visiting the scene to ensure swift action and dispute resolution.

7. Intensive checks at public places such as bus and railway stations should be conducted. Suspicious vehicles must be inspected at checkpoints without disrupting traffic flow.

8. Authorities are instructed to monitor and keep anti-social elements and rumour mongers under strict surveillance, taking preventive action as required.

9. Both male and female plain-clothes officers are to be deployed at crowded public areas and during events to ensure safety, following proper briefings.

10. Local intelligence units should be activated, ensuring preventive actions based on credible intelligence reports.

11. Regular mobile and foot patrols are essential in sensitive areas to maintain law and order throughout the district.

12. Adequate security planning is mandatory for processions, especially during immersions, with sensitive areas monitored through CCTV, and Quick Response Teams (QRT) on standby.

13. Round-the-clock social media monitoring must be in place to track misleading or objectionable posts on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Immediate legal action is to be taken against violators, with rapid refutation of false information.

These measures aim to ensure smooth and safe celebrations, emphasizing vigilance, cooperation, and a robust security presence.
