Digital Mediums Give Hindi Global Recognition, Say Experts at MGIHU Seminar

Prayagraj : Under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumud Sharma, the regional center of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University (MGIHU) in Prayagraj organized a seminar titled ‘Hindi in the Digital Era’ to celebrate Hindi Month. The event focused on the evolving role, opportunities, and challenges of the language in the age of digital communication, artificial intelligence, and social media.

Dr. Amit Malviya, Senior Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, Prayagraj, attended as the chief guest. He emphasized that the expansion of the internet and digital platforms has provided unprecedented opportunities for the propagation of Hindi globally.

"The digitization of information sources and language standardization is rapidly transforming how Hindi is consumed," said Dr. Malviya. "Hindi is becoming one of the most powerful mediums of communication in the digital space. Furthermore, content created in regional languages across India is being converted into Hindi at an accelerating rate. The Ministry of Education’s adoption and development of Unicode has played a pivotal role in enabling digital platforms to generate rich Hindi content."

Presiding over the event, Prof. Akhilesh Kumar Dubey, Academic Director of the Prayagraj Regional Center, highlighted that technology has given Hindi a truly global identity. He noted the extensive use of Hindi across websites, blogging, podcasts, digital journalism, and online education, calling for more high-quality content uploads to strengthen its position on the global stage. Prof. Dubey also recited a poem reflecting on the changing digital landscape.

Welcoming the guests, Dr. Supriya Pathak from the Department of Women's Studies lauded Dr. Malviya's initiatives in promoting Hindi within North Central Railway. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Vijaya Singh (Assistant Professor, Linguistics), while Dr. Akhtar Alam (Assistant Professor, Mass Communication) delivered the vote of thanks. The session was attended by faculty members, research scholars, and students, including Dr. Avantika Shukla, Dr. Asha Mishra, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Tiwari, and Dr. Yasharth Manjul.
