UPRTOU Partners with District TB Hospital and SBI to Support "TB Mukt Bharat"

Prayagraj : On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) organized a humanitarian event focused on community health and environmental welfare at its main campus.

The initiative was held in collaboration with the District Tuberculosis Hospital, Prayagraj, and the State Bank of India (Civil Lines branch). Organized by the School of Health Sciences, the event centered around distributing "Poshan Potali" (nutrition kits) to individuals undergoing treatment for Tuberculosis (TB).

Inaugurating the program, Registrar Col. Vinay Kumar stated that the university’s role extends beyond distance education into active social responsibility. He emphasized that proper nutrition, continuous medication, and positive mental strength are vital to overcoming TB, reaffirming the institution's support for the national "TB Mukt Bharat" mission. Finance Officer Poonam Mishra encouraged patients to maintain a balanced diet and strictly complete their prescribed treatment courses.

Providing medical context, Major Dr. S.K. Singh from the District TB Hospital outlined modern diagnostic capabilities, prevention methods, and the critical role of protein and vitamin-rich diets in strengthening immune responses during recovery. He highlighted government initiatives, including free diagnostics, medication, and financial assistance under the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana.

SBI Branch Manager Garima Srivastava noted that corporate social responsibility involves supporting public health efforts, including adopting TB patients to assist their nutritional needs. During the event, university faculty members personally adopted patients and handed over the nutrition kits.

The event was conducted by Prof. Meera Pal and attended by university officials, faculty members, and health department representatives, including Ashok Kumar Shukla and Shivendra Singh. Additionally, the university's School of Agricultural Sciences organized a large-scale tree plantation drive in the Yamuna campus to mark the occasion.
