Hardeep Singh Brar Appointed President and CEO of BMW Group India
BMW India appoints Hardeep Singh Brar as President and CEO; Vikram Pawah to head Australia and New Zealand operations.

Gurugram : #BMWGroupIndia has announced the appointment of Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective from September 1, 2025. The leadership transition comes as Mr. Vikram Pawah, the current CEO of BMW Group India, moves on to take charge of BMW Group operations in Australia and New Zealand.
The announcement was made by Mr. Jean-Philippe Parain, Senior Vice President of BMW Group for Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa. He highlighted India’s growing importance in the Group’s global strategy and praised Mr. Brar’s extensive industry knowledge.
“India is one of the fastest-growing markets for BMW and a vital component of our strategic roadmap. Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar’s deep understanding of the Indian automotive landscape and strong leadership skills make him the ideal choice to lead BMW Group India into its next phase of growth,” said Mr. Parain. He also extended gratitude to Mr. Vikram Pawah for his transformative contributions in India.
Mr. Brar brings with him over three decades of experience in the Indian automotive sector. Before joining BMW Group India, he served as the Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Kia India. His illustrious career has spanned top roles in marquee automotive companies including Maruti Suzuki, General Motors, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Nissan Motor, and Great Wall Motor Company.
Brar’s career has revolved around leading functions such as sales, marketing, customer experience, corporate strategy, and network development, making him a seasoned player in the evolving Indian automobile market. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Senior Executive Leadership Program.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vikram Pawah, who has been associated with BMW Group since 2017, will now head the Group’s operations in Australia and New Zealand. Under his leadership, BMW India saw significant achievements in areas like market share expansion, electric mobility, digital transformation, and customer engagement. His earlier stints included overseeing BMW India from 2017 to 2018 and BMW Australia from 2018 to 2020, before returning to India in 2020.
During his tenure, Mr. Pawah played a pivotal role in shaping the brand’s premium positioning in India and unlocking new growth segments, particularly in the luxury EV space. His efforts in enhancing the retail and digital experience for customers earned widespread recognition across the industry.
This leadership reshuffle marks a strategic shift as BMW Group looks to consolidate its strong market presence in both India and the Asia-Pacific region. With Hardeep Singh Brar’s appointment, the company aims to continue its trajectory of innovation, performance, and customer-centric excellence in the Indian luxury automobile space.
