Inauguration of Shri Thakur Radha Kishan Ji Maharaj Temple and Sanskrit Bharati Office in Kanpur
RSS leader inaugurates historic Radha Kishan temple and Sanskrit Bharati office in Kanpur, reviving spiritual

Alongside the temple ceremony, Swant Ranjan also inaugurated the regional office of Sanskrit Bharati within the same complex. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that temples should not merely be centers of worship but also hubs of spiritual strength, culture, and values. He encouraged every individual to not only pray at home but to visit their local temples daily to stay connected with their roots and community.
The temple trustee, Dr. Shyam Babu Gupta, shared that the Radha Kishan temple holds more than 105 years of historical significance, originally built in 1920 by Brijbhushan Awasthi and his wife Smt. Saraswati Devi Awasthi. The temple complex once housed a Sanskrit Pathshala (school), an Ayurvedic dispensary, and a dharmshala (pilgrims’ shelter)—all of which became inactive over the years.
Efforts are now underway to revive all these activities, bringing back the temple's original glory as a multifunctional cultural and service center.
Last year, the Rishabh Kumar Lohia Trust reintroduced a free homeopathic clinic within the temple premises, benefiting the local community. With the opening of the Sanskrit Bharati office, the temple is now being further developed into a center of learning and service.
Dr. Gupta further announced that in the near future, facilities for visiting pilgrims will also be added. Additionally, the temple complex is already running skill development programs for women and girls, including tailoring, embroidery, beautician training, and mehndi art.
Future plans include vocational training programs for youth, aiming to empower the local community not just spiritually but also economically and socially.
Before the inaugural puja, Swant Ranjan also conducted a tree plantation drive in the temple courtyard, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and respect for nature.
The event marks a new beginning for the temple not only as a spiritual landmark but also as a comprehensive center of cultural education, health, and skill development—true to its original mission set more than a century ago.
