Discussion on possible ways of cooperation between India and Kazakhstan
Astana. Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs, represented India at the meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers in Kazakhstan's capital Astana on Tuesday.
The primary topics covered in the meeting included comprehensive preparations and agenda for the Astana SCO Summit to be held on 3-4 July. The Sides also approved a list of topics and documents submitted for consideration by the Heads of SCO Member States, including the SCO Initiative on World Unity for Just Peace and Harmony and the Draft Roadmap for Dialogue with SCO Dialogue Partners. Ongoing cooperation between the countries, global issues like regional security and extremism were discussed in the meeting.
22 resolutions related to multilateral cooperation in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields were signed at the meeting. On the sidelines of the meeting, Ravi also met counterparts from other SCO member countries and officials of Kazakhstan. Indian High Commission in Kazakhstan wrote on social media platform
The High Commission wrote in another post that Secretary (Economic Relations) met Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari on the sidelines of the SCO Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
Ravi met Kairat Torebayev, Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan during which they discussed possible ways of cooperation between India and Kazakhstan to develop and enhance bilateral trade. On reaching Astana on Monday, Ravi paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, after which he also met the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko and discussed bilateral economic relations.
The objective of the SCO is to strengthen mutual trust and cooperation among member states in various fields while ensuring regional peace, security and stability.
