DP World, ICC and #SachinTendulkar join hands for global initiative to expand cricket #Beyond Boundaries

Mumbai: DP World, a global leader in smart end-to-end supply chain logistics, has launched a new initiative 'Beyond Boundaries' in collaboration with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and ICC. The aim of this initiative is to accelerate the growth of cricket across the world. As part of this global mission, DP World will utilize its end-to-end network and smart logistics capabilities to provide 50 repurposed shipping containers to grassroots cricket clubs across the world. All containers will be equipped with the necessary kits and equipment.

The 2023 50-over Men's Cricket World Cup is going to be held from October 5 to November 19. Just before the start of the World Cup, DP World Global Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar unveiled the first container at NSCI, Mumbai. DP World's first container with 40 cricket kits will be kept at Chikhlikar Sports Club in Palghar, Maharashtra. Besides, another 210 kits will be given to young cricketers from some other academies including Achrekar Cricket Academy and Shivaji Park Gymkhana Academy.

Each container will contain 250 specially designed kits. These include cricket bats, helmets, gloves, and pads. Each container can be used in many different ways. These containers can also be used as pavilions, which will have a scoreboard, sun protection, and seating arrangements.

Speaking at the launch of the first container, DP World Global Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar said, “I am delighted to partner with DP World to expand cricket globally. Like most young cricketers, I grew up playing in my local club. I understand the importance of quality cricket equipment and kits. These cricket clubs operating at the grassroots level are the cornerstone of cricket in any country. DP World’s commitment towards promoting young cricketers not only in India but across the world is heart-warming.”

He further said, “These cricket containers will provide space to the budding cricketers to rest and prepare. Most importantly, it is an important step towards creating a safe system for girls, as these containers can also be used as changing rooms. I am excited to be a part of this initiative. I look forward to seeing the impact of this initiative in nurturing the next generation of cricketers in India and around the world.”

The first container has been designed by local artist Sadhna Prasad and is a tribute to Master Blaster Sachin. The first 10 containers will be inspired by Tendulkar's legacy. Over the next five years, DP World will leverage its interconnected global network spanning 75 countries and six continents to deliver the remaining 49 containers to key and strategic locations around the world. Two of these containers will be given during this World Cup. Detailed information about this will be shared soon.

The Beyond Boundaries initiative will be given a new dimension through ICC broadcasts throughout the tournament. It will be explained through graphic how 10 kits will be provided for every 100 runs scored in each match. All kit donations will be made through a container to be launched in 2023.
